The Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) is a global information and communication technology (ICT) national research institute under the Ministry of Science and ICT, which has led the growth of the information and communication industry in Korea for 45 years since its establishment in 1976. The ETRI is preparing for a strong leap forward to realize 'South Korea, Toward AI powerhouse' with the vision of 'National AI Research Institute-Making a Better Tomorrow'. Major R&D areas currently being conducted by researchers include ▲ next-generation SW/content artificial intelligence such as big data, cloud, and autonomous vehicles ▲ next-generation broadcasting services, 5G, satellite and radio communication media technologies ▲ convergence research on high value-added ICT materials. ETRI has a total of 2,500 people, including 1,000 Ph.D.-level researchers, and its annual R&D budget is 620 billion won.
